Luis Figo is the 2nd best player in the world after Ronaldinho.

Luís Figo is married to Swedish model Helen Svedin. The two met at a flamenco show and are now married with three daughters, Daniela (born in March 1999), Martina (born in April 2002), and Stella (born December 9, 2004).

Like several of his Real Madrid colleagues at the time like Steve McManaman and Roberto Carlos, Luís is a devout Catholic, and met the Pope with those team mates in 2002.

Along with his countryman, football manager Carlos Queiróz, Figo was briefly joint seat holder for A1 Team Portugal, in A1 Grand Prix, during the 2005-06 season.

England Football Head Coach.

It became known that last night Fabio Capello had been approved by The Football Association board as England head coach. But Capello is not going to sign his contract until he is satisfied by the terms offered to the four Italian members of his backroom staff, an early indication of the firm approach that he will bring to the job.

There were indications that Capello will find room for an English coach in his support staff - possibly David Platt, who speaks Italian, or Alan Shearer – and that he is likely to find a place in his plans for David Beckham, who may even be made captain for what would be his 100th cap in the new coach’s first match in charge, the friendly match against Switzerland on February 6.

Floyd Mayweather is winner.

Probably the duel between Floyd Mayweather with Ricky Hatton will be one of the richest fights in boxing history. Floyd Mayweather insisted that he is the greatest fighter of all time - even better than Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali - and that Ricky Hatton is a dirty fighter who will not get away with underhand tactics when they meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. "I can quit today and I'll be known as the best fighter that ever lived. I respect what Robinson and Ali did for the sport, but I am the greatest, and this is my time," said Mayweather.

So he kept his promise; Mayweather has been as good as his word.

“Five men have been arrested today on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and false accounting as part of an ongoing investigation into football corruption,” said a City of London Police spokeswoman.
Redknapp and Milan Mandaric, the Leicester City chairman and former Portsmouth chairman, were held after early morning raids this morning involving officers from the City of London Police. Amdy Faye, the Rangers midfielder formerly with Portsmouth, football agent Willie McKay and Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie were also held as officers searched eight addresses across the UK.

Redknapp, who has been linked with the vacant England manager's job, was questioned at Chichester Police Station. Redknapp said he believed his release from Chichester police station was "the end of it" after being questioned by police. He spoke as he returned to his multi-million pound home at Sandbanks, Poole, Dorset.
He said: "We all helped the police with their enquiries, but it doesn't directly concern me, it's other people involved. I've been answering questions to help the police. I am not directly concerned with their enquiries." The raids were the latest development in attempts by the authorities to root out corruption in the national game, which began after the report by Lord Stevens of Kirkwhelpington this summer into football transfers.
The Quest team led by Stevens, the former Metropolitan Police commissioner, trawled 362 transfer deals made over a 15-month period.

After a football fan has been shot dead by police during a fight between rival supporters in Tuscan town about 125 miles north of Rome, Italy's football stadiums will not re-open to fans until existing safety regulations are met, Interior Minister Giuliano Amato has said.

Why?

Oh, how it poetic and exalted sounds! “Baseball is about history, its poets tell us. It is about continuity and about heirloom emotions. It's a golden thread that binds the generations together, one after another, in the face of an increasingly centrifugal and atomized world. So say baseball's poets, and because this is a baseball story, let's begin nearly a century ago”. It was written by CHARLES P. PIERCE several months ago in his article titled “Why Scott Boras is the best (and worst) thing to happen to baseball”. Really, why?

Today CNN reports that Alex Rodriguez has opted out of the final three years of his contract with the Yankees and will become a free agent, likely ending his four-year stay in New York.
Rodriguez's decision was first reported by Sports Illustrated's Web site on Sunday evening. According to the report, agent Scott Boras sent word of the opt-out in writing and left phone and text messages for general manager Brian Cashman on Sunday.

Acie Law IV was born January 25, 1985 in Dallas, Texas. His father Acie III, who used to play as a point guard at Navarro Junior Colleage, is a mechanic. His mother Dolores works as an office clerk. Acie has an elder brother, Lamont and two younger sisters: Vivien and Frances.
He wears "Law IV" on his jersey instead of his last name only.
He has two tattoos: the one on his left arm quotes Psalm 91 and 93, and the other on his right arm says "Lord's Favorite Lawman".
During one of his workouts he broke his right arm. Then he started to practice shooting with his left hand. When he healed his injury, he was able to shoot with both hands. However, most of his shots have been taken with his left hand, which is specific because they almost don't have any spin.
Ray Allen has been Acie Law’s favorite NBA player and Sacramento Kings - his favorite team. When he was growing up he admired Magic Johnson.
In 1997 his grandfather died of a heart attach when he and his grandson were watching a boxing match together.

Olympic medals.

It's interesting how look olimpic medals, who creates it? Olympism is not a system, it is a state of mind. It can permeate a wide variety of modes of expression and no single race or era can claim a monopoly of it. The olimpic medals represent these values of Olympism: friendship, honour and excellence in the respect for one’s opponent. So medal's particular design must ideally recall the spirit of loyalty that lodges in the heart of all sportsmen. Athletes in Ancient Greece used to receive a laurel wreath covered in gold as their reward for winning an event.

Gold Olimpic Medal, Sapporo 1972

Olympic medals must be at least 60 millimetres in diameter and at least three millimetres thick. Gold and silver medals must be made of 92.5 percent pure silver; the gold medal must be gilded with at least six grams of gold and the design of the medal is the responsibility of the host city's organising committee, with the approval of the IOC.

Salt Lake City 2002

Usually each step of the process of creation of Olimpic Medals for the next Olimpic Games is keeping in secret. And it's no wonder because they do their work for those who create the Great Olimpic History.
